Turnover among servers is a constant at many restaurants.
That’s why Holly Tuinman’s length of service at the Smokehouse Barbeque Grill (formerly Fat Boy’s) is so remarkable. She started in 1979.
It’s believed she has worked at the same location longer than any other server in Indian River County. (As mentioned in a previous column, Elaine Huth started at Vincent’s in 1979. However, she moved to Ohio for a year in the 1980s.)
Here’s something that makes Holly’s feat even cooler: Her daughters, Danielle and Angela, work with her at Smokehouse Barbeque Grill. Both are servers. Danielle has been there 14 years and Angela has worked there 10 years.
In the accompanying photo, that’s Holly (left) with Danielle.
