The iconic Wabasso Tackle Shop wasn’t supposed to close until Dec. 31.
Steve and Barbara Parsons owned the business for 35 years, but earlier this year they decided to call it quits at the end of 2014. Steve said their final day would be New Year’s Eve.
However, I stopped by there today and the place was shuttered. The “Wabasso Tackle Shop” sign was taken down from the front of the building.
Steve put a note in the door that thanked all of the “wonderful customers.” He ended it by saying in all-caps … “GONE FISHING.”
A fitting end to a place that made an impression on you the first time you saw it.
