It’s hard to explain my hobby.
It’s sports-related … but it’s not golf or tennis. I play Strat-O-Matic baseball.
The simple explanation: It’s a table-top game, played with dice, based on statistics.
Last weekend, I flew to Pittsburgh to participate in the Strat Tournament Player Club’s “world” championship. There were 55 participants from throughout the United States and Canada. (Here’s a link to the organization’s website: www.strattpc.com.)
I finished with a 15-21 record, which was very disappointing because I thought I drafted a pretty good team.
There was an unexpected “bonus” on the trip to Pittsburgh. My wife and I were able to attend a Bruce Springsteen concert at Consol Arena. Saturday was the opening night of his tour. It was the fourth time we’ve seen him in concert.
Bruce is now 66 years old, and he’s starting to look like an “old” man. However, he put on a show that lasted 3 hours, 20 minutes. He definitely gave fans their money’s worth.
