Danuta Snevel has owned five restaurants, so running Eva’s Polish Kitchen in the absence of the owner, Ewa Liwanowska, normally wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
However, Danuta, 74, had open-heart surgery in March.
So, working 15-hour days isn’t what the doctor ordered.
Ewa is in Poland, unable to obtain a new visa that would allow her to return to the United States. She’s relying on her mother, Danuta, to keep Eva’s Polish Kitchen afloat.
Her father, Howard Snevel, has appealed to President Obama and both of Florida’s Senators, Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio, for help in allowing Ewa to return to the United States.
The restaurant, located at 40 43rd Ave., has been open for about 14 months.
